BREAKING: Stefon Diggs signs one year $12 million deal to join Washington Commanders

Following a release from the New England Patriots in March, Stefon Diggs has found a new home in Washington. The 32-year-old veteran receiver signed his new deal to join the Commanders, giving dynamic quarterback Jayden Daniels another weapon in addition to Terry McLaurin.

Diggs led the Patriots last season with 85 receptions, totaling 1,013 total yards and hauling in four touchdowns.

The Patriots reached the Super Bowl last season with Diggs leading the receiving corps. He provided QB Drake Maye with a legitimate number one option, leading to a runner-up finish in the MVP race for Maye.

The Maryland native looks to take advantage of the opportunity with the new team after facing legal trouble and a very public breakup with girlfriend Cardi B.

The Commanders lost wide receiver two from last year after Deebo Samuel returned to the 49ers on a one-year deal worth $7 million. Less than a week later, the Commanders bring the Maryland native, Diggs, home.

Diggs is a legitimate option to be a number one option for several teams in the league after he served in that role catching passes from Josh Allen in Buffalo for four seasons before making stops in Houston and New England. He will likely be the number two receiver in Washington behind Terry McLaurin.

Diggs began his career in Minnesota, recording one of the most iconic catches in Vikings history when he ran into the end zone after catching a 27-yard pass from Case Keenum on the final play of the Divisional Round playoff game in 2018, the ‘Minneapolis Miracle.’

The Washington Commanders will begin their regular season on September 13th at Philadelphia.
